    Although most scuba dives are made with a buddy, an experienced diver may want or need to make dives without a partner.

    During the Self-Reliant Diver course, you learn about potential risks of diving alone and the value of equipment redundancy and necessary back-up gear.

    During three scuba dives, you develop skills for self-reliance and independence, while becoming a stronger partner in a dive pair or team.

    To enrol in the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course you must;

    • Advanced Open Water Diver or higher certification
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Proof of 100 logged Scuba dives
    • Be medically fit for diving

    All standard SCUBA equipment is required, including

    • Mask, snorkel, fins*
    • Regulator (with alternate air source and gauges)
    • Dive Computer
    • BCD
    • Weight system
    • At least one audible emergency signalling device
    • Exposure protection suitable for the environment.
    • A redundant breathing system (tank, regulator)
    • Backup mask, computer and other items as specified by your instructor

    Full equipment rental packages are available for an additional fee.

    *We recommend that each diver has at a minimum their own mask and snorkel.
