If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures, or simply see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts! Getting your PADI certification with Diver City SCUBA is fun, easy, and lasts a lifetime!
You will have 10+ hours of SCUBA instruction with one of our amazing PADI Pro team members as well as plenty of academic learning to better understand the sport, the gear, and the process! You can start on your academics at any time and you have options for completing the other components to this course. Whether you have a vacation planned or you are excited to see what Manitoba has to offer, we will make sure you've got all you need to make your certification proccess a fun and educational one.
Private and Semi-private course schedules and options are also available. We can even Fast Track your training in time for your upcoming trip! Please contact us for details.
Academics can be done online or through "good old-fashioned" books. All academics are done as self-study, so you can do them on your own time at your own pace.
Confined Water Skills are completed in the City pools, typically Monday evenings at Pan Am Pool for 5 consecutive weeks OR over 2 days from July through September in the shallows of West Hawk Lake OR over 2 days in Cozumel, Mexico.
Open Water Dives are completed over a weekend, or 2 days in a row. There are 4 dives to complete your certfication and locally we can complete these dives from June through October each year at West Hawk Lake. We can also complete these dives during any of our Diver City trips, worldwide. OR you can complete these on your own vacation with any PADI dive shop around the world.
Rental Equipment is included* throughout your entire course and is kept up-to-date with servicing but it will be your responsibility to transport the gear to West Hawk Lake (if applicable).
*Rental equipment is only included if completing the course locally. Rental equipment and boat fees are additional and paid directly to any destination dive shops.
To enroll in the PADI Open Water course or Junior Open Water course, you must be;
- 10 years or older (certain depth & buddy restrictions apply until age 15)
- able to swim 200 m/yds (continuous, any stroke, no time limit)
- able to tread/float for 10 minutes
- in good physical health (medical clearance may be required)
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, computer and a tank. The exposure protection you wear varies, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water. The "refreshing" waters of West Hawk Lake you will wear a 2 piece 7mm wetsuit or drysuit (extra fees will apply), with hood, gloves and boots.
